Gasa Hot Spring Trek

Day 01 :

Arrive Paro

Day 02 :
Paro – Thimphu
Day 03 :

Thimphu – Punakha

Day 04 :

Punakha – Damji

This morning you check-out from your hotel and drive 23 KMS towards north of Punakha, about half of this 23 km road is unpaved so the drive may be bumpy. Reaching Kabina the trail leads first down to the bank of the river mochu then along the riverside for a short time and then ascends from the semi-tropical vegetation of wild bananas, creepers and orchids to the high agricultural village of Damji at an altitude of approx. 2400 meters. Camp at Damji, above the village. Walking time approx. 4 – 5 hours.

Day 05 :

Damji – Gasa Hot Spring.

From the camp site, for while the trail gently leads through the oak forest, and meadows and after a while crossing a high cable suspension bridge you come to the small village of Goen Gayza. Further, from there you arrive at a point where you can have a nice view of the Gasa Dzong, seeming to float in the space. Stop at this point for lunch. After luch the trail leads up and down arrive at a look out with the view of the Dzong again and the hot spring, from there descend until the last cable suspension bridge, you are not far from the hot spring now. Arrive at hot spring, Camp at hot spring. Altitude approx 2350 meters Walking time 6 – 7 hours.

Day 06 :

Hot Spring/Gasa Dzong

Today you have an option to spend the day at the hot spring or take packed lunch and climb about 2 hours to visit the Gasa Dzong and the village.

Day 07 :

Damji – Punakha

Day 08 :

Gasa Hot Spring – Damji

Day 09 :

Punakha – Paro

Day 10 :

Paro departure.
