Day 1. Bangkok - Paro-Thimphu
Depart by Druk Air flight KB to Paro. On a clear day the panoramic views of the Himalayas are sensational including the Everest, but particularly exciting is the approach through the Bhutanese foothills and the landing, including a few steeps turns to land at the tiny airstrip of Paro International Airport. Upon arrival and completing your visa formalities, our representative will receive you. The drive from the airport to Thimphu, the least visited Capital City is about one hours. The drive to Thimphu follows the Pa Chu (river) and down to its confluence with the Wang Chu, then drive up valley to Thimphu. Having lunch explore the shops on the main street of Thimphu, as this is the first day at this altitude one has to take it easy to get acclimatized to the altitude. Overnight: Thimphu.
NOTE: Try to get the right hand seat (either in front or at the back) as you will enjoy better view of the Himalayas.
Day 2. Thimphu-Punakha
After breakfast, visit the Zilukha nunnery where, young nuns take up their Monastic schooling. The hand made paper factory where age old tradition of making the Bhutanese paper is still carried on with a blend of the modern technology. Visit the school of fine arts where children at very young age learn the traditional method of painting, sculpture, carving and many more. Visit the folk heritage museum, a living museum where one can see the entire Bhutanese household items, farm tools and of all the Bhutanese way of living. Visit the National memorial Stupa built in memory of the late King. After lunch drive to Punakha. Leaving Thimphu the road climbs a series of zigzags over the Dochula Pass (3050 meters) with its (weather permitting) spectacular views of the snow capped Eastern Himalayas, from there gradually descends through varied forest finally emerging into the highly cultivated valley of Punakha, the former Capital of Bhutan and at present the winter residence to the Chief Abbot and the Central Monk Body.

Day 3. Punakha-Paro
In the morning after breakfast visit the Punakha Dzong, one of the most magnificent Dzong in the Country. Drive to Paro, via Thimphu for lunch and having lunch further drive to Paro. Upon arrival in Paro visit the National Museum and the Paro Dzong, the seat of district administration and religious centre for Paro. Overnight: Paro.
Day 4. Paro
Take the trail to Taktsang Monastery, one of the most sacred places for the Bhutanese in the Country. Your 2 hour walk through the oaken and the pine forest is rewarding with an unforgettable view of the 800 meters below and a chance to see the unusual temple clinging to the side of the cliff. A less strenuous pony ride to the temple is also available. Late afternoon visit the down town Paro. Later drive to Drugyel Dzong, a fort which is now in ruin. However, it does have a historical importance to the Bhutanese and the Country. This Dzong (Fort) was built in the 17th century to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan invaders. Later it also served as a gate way to Tibet for the Bhutanese merchants until the Chinese occupation.
